Workshops

A series of educational and community based workshops have taken place along the route of the wall involving people of all ages and abilities. These workshops have introduced new audiences to the work of quality writing and encouraged and supported new writing from the participants. New works have been created which examine historical and contemporary aspects of the Hadrian's Wall World Heritage Site.

This has begun the process of making a new portfolio of creative writing about a World Heritage Site which is both ancient and modern - A.D. 122 to the 21st Century.

August 2004	Troubadours 23 Drama, Visual Art and Writing workshops took place along the length of Hadrian's Wall as part of Cloud Nine - The Troubadours Tour

March 2004	Angela Locke spent six weeks working with a group of residents in Maryport to lead them in Creative Writing and Poetry She also worked with year 5 pupils at Ewanrigg School

March 2004	Ellen Phethean ran workshops in Byker and a writing group in the Cumberland Arms
March 2003	Penny Grennan worked with a Creative Writing Group in Hexham with participants from the local community

April 2003	Jacob Polley lead Creative Writing workshop at Tullie House, Carlisle with a community based group

May 2002	Kitty Fitzgerald ran workshops with Waberthwaite Primary School, Ravenglass

May 2002	Robert Forsythe ran workshops with St Andrews Primary School, Heddon on the Wall

May 2002	Bill Herbert ran workshops with Hadrian Primary School, South Shields and Carville First School, Wallsend

June 2002	Linda France ran workshops with a community based adult writing group at Corbridge Roman Site, Northumberland
