After graduating in Romanian and English from the University of Bucharest, she joined Univers Publishing House in Bucharest. Between 1991-2001, she was editor in chief of Univers Publishing House. She is the author of five volumes of poetry, recipient of the Debut Prize of the Romanian Writers Union in 1979, and of other poetry awards. In 1999, Swedish publishers Gondolin published a selection of her poetry translated by Dan Shafran. She is included in anthologies in U.K., France, Germany, USA. Canada, Sweden, Poland, Turkey. She has worked on an extended anthology of Romanian Women Poetry from 1960 to 2002. Since 1990 she has been the Secretary of the Romanian PEN Centre. She stayed close to both in Haltwhistle and near Gilsland, and gave readings to two primary schools in Gilsland and Greenhead and to a community gathering at Haltwhistle. Her work reflects the evocative landscapes and the ghosts of people and relationships. |
